Frequently asked questions
+What is a gold ETF?
A fund that holds physical gold bullion in a vault and issues shares that trade on a stock exchange like any equity, so an investor gets exposure to the gold price without arranging storage or insurance themselves.
+Why isn't every gold ETF on this page?
This list is deliberately limited to funds that hold physical gold bullion directly. Leveraged, inverse and futures-based products (2x/3x ETNs, options-income strategies) track gold very differently and carry a different risk profile, so mixing them into a 'gold ETF' list would misrepresent both kinds.
+How is a gold ETF different from buying physical gold?
An ETF share is a claim on pooled, professionally-vaulted gold and settles instantly through a brokerage account, but it carries counterparty and fund-structure risk that physical possession doesn't. See the gold ETF vs. physical gold vs. gold bonds explainer for the full comparison.
